If you start to have problems with your unit tangling, here are a few unconventional ways to preserve the life of you unit. Note, by detangling your hair incorrectly, you may hurt the condition and shorten the life span of your wig.
Baking Soda Bath: Fill a large 3qt container with warm water. Pour ½ to ¾ cups of baking soda into the water and mix until completely dissolved.
After brushing out your lace wig, place it into the mixture making sure it is completely submerged.
Allow the unit to soak over night or a minimum of 4 hours. Remove it and rinse with warm water. Wash with a botanical clarifying shampoo thoroughly.
Deep condition the hair with a botanical deep conditioner. Nearly Natural’s Kera Intense Masque an excellent example of a botanical deep conditioner that contains the sought after Keratin used in Brazilian Blow out for extra soft hair.
After rinsing out the deep conditioner, let the hair air dry then style as desired.
Coping with Lace Wig Frizz
It is advisable to use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb when necessary.
Alcohol Free Leave-in conditioners are great for all types of lace wig textures particularly curly one. It’s best to rinse the hair in the coldest water possible after a shampoo and conditioner for straight hair. The coldest water will help hair to look less frizzy and it locks down the hair cuticle and makes hair slicker and softer.
Never rub the hair after it’s washed; instead, gently squeeze out the excessive moisture with a towel. There are various products on the market which and help you deal with frizz. A good one for silky hair is the FRIZ CONTROL STYLING BALM.
Always sleep with your hair tied up in a satin scarf/cap or sleep on a satin pillowcase to reduce friction on the hair caused by cotton pillow cases. This will greatly reduce tangles and breakage.
NEVER SLEEP WITH WET HAIR. Use a botanical shampoo and conditioner made for dry hair. Gently shampoo the hair in one direction and follow with conditioner in the same manner.
