Types of Lace Wig Adhesives

There is a variety of adhesives for applying your lace wig. Because everyone’s body chemistry is different, what may work for one person may not necessarily work for you, so be patient and don’t be afraid to experiment. Below is a list of common adhesives and the pros and cons of each one:

Ultra Hold Adhesive Review:

Pros: This is the liquid adhesive that everyone raves about (and for good reason). This item is also used in the medical industry. This adhesive has a waterproof, non-yellowing acrylic formula base; and is medical grade. It has a 4-6 week hold. Most of the other adhesives are for 10-14 days. If you are interested in rue extended wear, this is the product for you. This product is a thicker liquid than most other adhesives so it is important to allow proper drying time. We insist on following the manufacturer’s directions with this which is 5-10 minutes. This adhesive removes easily with Lace Release, C-22 or Rapid Release.

Cons- This Adhesive can be very gooey. It is very stringy difficult to use. I do not recommend it for begginers.

Final Comments- Attachment time varies from one individual to another, the oilier the skin the shorter the hold time (which is why we include scalp protector to increase your wear times). Do not apply to irritated skin and if you are concerned about allergies/etc., please always do a skin test prior to full use.

Safe Grip Adhesive Review:

Pros: This adhesive dries very fast and clear leaving no shine. For an even faster dry, use a dryer on the cool setting. This is a great touch-up adhesive to keep around because it is easy to use. Clean-up is a breeze when using 100% pure acetone and a cotton ball. The acetone keeps your fingers and lace free from stickiness and glue boogers.

Cons- It does not give a very strong hold, so touch up’s are done about every 3 days or so when used alone.

No Shine Super Tape review:

Pros- No shine Tape has a dull Finish, no Residue and is water proof & hypoallergenic. This adhesive tape is usually worn with ultra hold or Mastix P” Adhesive to give a stronger hold. Particularly in the nape area, adhesive alone will not hold for long with out the fortification of adhesive tape.

Cons- No shine tape has a very strong adhesion (sticks to everything!) thefore it is very difficult to remove. It may cause damage or hair loss around your own hairline if not removed properly.  Spray C-22 solvent and leave it on for 15minutes before you begin to lift the tape.

Mastix “P” Spirit Gum Review:

Pros- This is my favorite adhesive! It dries clear without a hint of hard, gooey, white residue. It has a watery consistancy therefore it goes on really easy. Its great for touch ups on the go because it is no mess no fuss. It dries super FAST, so you must have your unit in place and already positioned. The instructions say you must apply the lace when the adhesive is still damp. That gives you maybe 10 seconds. The 1.7 oz bottle is small enough to carry in your purse, so touch-up at work are not a problem at all.Using 100% Pure Acetone, there is barely no residue on my skin or my lace.
This adhesive was created for the film industry therefore it also come in the matte no shine version.

Cons- This adhesive is not suitable for extended wear. It may last 3-5 days. However, this adhesive is so user-friendly (no glue boogers, no caked-up glue, no sticky fingers,no white residue), thus the touch-ups take less than 15 seconds. For a longer hold, i use Mastix P” Spirit gum with adhesive tape.
